As a Health Care Aide - Home Care, you will provide patient care services as a member of our healthcare team, under the supervision of a regulated healthcare professional. You will be working within the clients residential environment and be responsible for direct care assistance, as well as the emotional well-being and physical comfort of the client. It will be required of you to adapt to workload assignment changes and possess the communication skills and knowledge to promptly report needs and condition changes of the client as required. Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA) - Nursing Attendant, you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Must meet one of the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Health Care Aide (HCA) competency requirements: Certified - certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum. Evidence required upon hire; or Substantially Equivalent - an educational background deemed equivalent as compared to the approved Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum. Evidence required upon hire; or Deemed Competent - assessed as competent by an Alberta regulated nurse, using the Provincial Competency Assessment Profile Tool. Evidence required upon hire; or candidate would be required to register for a HCA course from a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum within 155 hours or 6 weeks (whichever comes first), and successfully complete the course within 12 month timeline from date of hire.

Additional Required Qualifications:

One year experience as a Health Care Aide. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Supportive Pathways or dementia training, nail care, non-violent crisis intervention and palliative care education.
