Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Genetic Counseling. Board Certification or eligibility with either the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CAGC) or the American Board of Genetic Counsellors (ABGC).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Certification (or eligible for certification) with the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors or American Board of Genetic Counsellors is required. Recent work experience in the field of clinical genetics is preferred, preferably with experience in the area of ocular genetics. Advanced knowledge and understanding of genetic disorders/inheritance in relation to risk calculation/counselling. Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to evidence-based, patient and family-centered care. Effective oral and written presentation and communication skills, including telephone counselling. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively in an inter-professional team environment. Demonstrated understanding of legal and ethical issues related to privacy and confidentiality. Highly developed computer skills and the ability to learn new computer programs.
