Your Opportunity:

As a member of the Decision Support Team (DST), the Data Management (DM) Assistant works closely with team members, clinicians, managers, and staff of Addiction and Mental Health services, and liaises with other departments such as Information Technology, Health Records, and Analytics. The DM Assistant is responsible for a wide range of tasks in support of data management for Addiction and Mental Health services. While the daily tasks and project directives are administered and supervised by the DM Analysts, this position reports directly to the DST Manager. Key responsibilities include the following: Participate in the implementation of information systems and defining functional requirements for new and existing services in Addiction and Mental Health. Provide user support and training, and maintain system documentation for multiple information systems used in Addiction and Mental Health. Assist with the collection and submission of service delivery data for routine and special purpose reports, verify the accuracy of data collected, and produce statistical reports for clinicians and leadership. Participate in data quality initiatives for monitoring and improving data quality; perform or assist in data analysis; perform data entry when required. Participate in the development of data standards and performance indicators, in support of service monitoring and continuous improvement of quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of care.


As a Research Associate I, your principle focus is the coordination of research studies including internal and external clinical trials from start-up to closure in collaboration with principal investigators and other members of the research team. You are responsible for the submission of ethics applications, consent/ assent forms, amendments, progress reports and other submissions to the Research Ethics Board. An integral member of the research team, you will integrate the knowledge and skills of data abstracting with the philosophy and standards of AHS and clinical trial sponsors.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary diploma or degree in a health or science related field or Certification as a Clinical Research Associate through the Society of Clinical Research Associates.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to addiction & mental health, health services delivery, health informatics, or data management (e.g. Community Health Sciences, Health Administration, Health Informatics, Psychology, Sociology). A diploma or certificate in a related field with experience or educational equivalencies will also be considered. Experience with: Collecting, verifying, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting large-scale data sets. Training and supporting others, both individually and in groups, in data collection procedures and the use of information systems. Addiction and mental health (or health care) service delivery and business processes. Multi-site computer based information systems or other automated data collection methods. Reporting, presentation, and statistical analysis software (Access, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, SPSS, Tableau, etc.).

Ability to: Receive direction, collaborate with others, and work effectively in a team environment. Clearly communicate and consult with all stakeholders both orally and in written form. Maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Plan, problem-solve, and organize multiple tasks and priorities. Work both independently and collaboratively.
