Your Opportunity:

Can you envision yourself in a new role creating a new Professional Billing Office for AHS? An exciting opportunity exists for a Coordinator, Professional Billing Office to help establish processes and procedures related to a Professional Billing Office. This role is suitable for an individual wishing to expand the practice into leadership and influence while still remaining current and hands on related to physician billing. We are looking for an individual with a passion for data and attention to detail as well as someone who is a big picture thinker. The Coordinator is responsible and accountable for the direction, team leadership, and organization over the day to day activities of the Professional Billing Office, as well as the support of the vision, mission, and business plan of Alberta Health Services. The position will require strong relationship building abilities that include facilitation, collaboration, and consultation skills. If you can utilize persuasion and influence in order to successfully lead the Professional Billing Office, this position may be for you. The successful candidate will have experience successfully communicating with different stakeholders and demonstrate a client-centered approach. We are also looking for someone who has the ability to develop creative approaches to problems and who demonstrates sound critical thinking and ethical decision making. The position will be located in Calgary.

Description:

Reporting to the Provincial Program Manager, Physician Compensation, in the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Portfolio, the Coordinator, Professional Billing Office will be responsible for the effective and efficient planning, leading, organization, operation, and reporting of the Provincial AHS Professional Billing Office. The role will be responsible to configure and implement physician billing data elements from Connect Care, support change management plans for individuals (physicians and non-physicians) involved in physician billing throughout the province, and propose and evaluate ongoing AHS Professional Billing Office operational models. While physician billing within AHS is not new, an AHS Professional Billing Office as an entity is new business and, as such, policies and processes will have to be established as well as identifying staffing compliment, developing specific service offerings, and budget planning. Significant collaboration and coalition building with internal colleagues (Zone & Provincial Medical Affairs, Chief Medical Information Office particularly related to Connect Care, Information Technology & Finance) and external colleagues (software providers (i.e. EPIC for Connect Care), University Faculties of Medicine in Alberta, ARP management committees, physician offices, etc.) will be required. This senior professional role will set quality standards and implement best practices for the organization. As new work, this complex, strategic role has significant impact on Medical Affairs and contributes to the overall success and reputation of AHS. The position is also responsible for evaluation of the Professional Billing Office and ensuring alignment with the vision, mission and strategic plan of AHS and Medical Affairs goals.
