Your Opportunity:

As a Clinical Supervisor working in Addiction and Mental Health, you will support a variety of teams, with a significant emphasis on nursing duties. This is a leadership position that supports teams in both acute care and community settings. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the daily clinical operations of the service and supports a multidisciplinary team, to include but not limited to registered nurse, registered psychiatric nurse, social worker, recovery worker and administrative staff. Providing leadership to the team, this position plans, assigns, coordinates and facilitates daily activities of clinical staff, ensuring effective use of resources. The Supervisor will support clinicians to provide excellence in professional practice and enable recovery oriented, quality, patient and family-centered care in all settings where services are offered. Additional duties include supporting the transition of service delivery from acute care to community based programming, or vice versa. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in providing nursing leadership in addiction and mental health assessment and treatment, in both community and acute settings. The Clinical Supervisor will also have experience in recommending and developing policies, procedures and local protocols for use by a multi-disciplinary team. The incumbent contributes to the monitoring and development of the operational plan; leads quality improvement and risk management activities of the teams and engages in program and community development. The Clinical Supervisor provides support to multiple teams, including but not limited to: Allied Health, Street Connect, Assertive Outreach Services, Crisis Response Team, Diversion and Family Violence.

Description:

As a Clinical Supervisor, you will provide clinical supervision for a discipline, practice area or service sector supporting clinicians to provide excellence in professional practice and enable quality, patient and family-centered care. In this clinical leadership role, you will provide clinical supervision to staff providing addiction and/or mental health services to individuals, families, and groups. This role involves supervision related to a range of assessment, mental health (psychosocial, and psychological interventions), and other activities. Supervision may be provided to regulated staff, those requiring supervision to meet regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention. This may include observing clinical sessions, reviewing clinical documentation and written reports, conducting team case consultations and offering support, and providing guidance and direction to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases in a timely manner. In your role, you may work with members of the interdisciplinary team, psychiatrists and community partners in support of effective professional and collaborative practice. You may contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health treatment services in a hospital setting or community. You may also identify and address gaps in clinical practice as well as facilitate addressing of system level gaps and risk management issues. You may provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation and performance evaluation of clinical staff.

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Psychology or Social Work or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory body. Must hold general registration prior to starting in the position. 5 years' experience in providing mental health assessment and intervention, including restricted activity of psychosocial intervention.

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Preferred Qualifications:

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification preferred. Experience in risk assessment and safety planning preferred. Experience working with diverse populations preferred. Experience working in an acute care setting also preferred.
