Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Social Work or Psychology. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) or the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Registered and in good standing (not under practice restriction or investigation) with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Minimum of eight years demonstrated experience in assessment and treatment of mental health disorders and 3 years of supervisory experience. Training and experience in evidence-based interventions and basic health Psychology. Ability to work within a primary care behavioural health model and ability to apply population-based care principles. Knowledge of basic medications. Ability to teach mental health concepts to front line staff and Family Physicians through application of Principles of Adult Learning. Consults with front line staff and primary care providers on their assessment, treatment, and management of patients with mental health/behavioural problems. Teaches mental health knowledge and techniques to Family Physicians which they can in turn apply in practical ways with their broader patient population. Recommends treatment priorities and sequencing of treatment steps. Role-models assessment and treatment services to front line staff, family physicians and selected patients who present with complex treatment issues in primary care provider practices. Provides coaching to front line staff. Possession of valid Driver s License and access to a vehicle is a requirement and condition of employment as travel is required within the Calgary.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. from an APA/CPA accredited clinical or Counselling Psychology program. Organizes and conducts education/training sessions with primary care providers and other professional groups on mental health and behavioural issues, including the development of training/education sessions. Facilitates referrals for primary care patients to appropriate mental health/psychiatric resources within the Calgary Zone and the community.
