At Alberta Health Services (AHS), Health Informatics is the intersection of clinical, information management/information technology (IM/IT) and management practices to achieve better health. To enable successful IM/IT implementations and transformational change, the Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL) provides direct support to the Chief Medical Information Office (CMIO) to help align initiatives and goals, focusing efforts on the clinical improvement and inquiry program. All Non-Union Exempt positions are being reviewed for possible inclusion in the AUPE General Support Services bargaining unit. If this position is impacted, the incumbent will be notified accordingly.

Description:

The Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL) uses principles of Clinical Improvement and Clinical Decision Support to develop the Clinical Reporting, Analytics and Inquiry learning pathways and competencies to establish data integrity and knowledge, skills, attitudes and judgments for clinical staff providing direct or indirect clinical care across the organization. The CIL will work with a high degree of independence under the direction of the Program Director, Clinical System Design & Inquiry Supports. They will develop close partnerships with others working on the Connect Care (CC) program, including Information Technology, Clinical Operations, Analytics and Research and Innovation. The Clinical Informatics Lead’s primary duties and responsibilities will include: Development of clinical improvement and inquiry use cases and alignment of those use cases to CIS functionality. Supporting Area Councils to develop capacity and make informed decisions related to the design and build of CIS reporting and inquiry tools. Development of a CC reporting, analytics and inquiry roadmap. Development of best practices and standards for integration into program workflows and electronic clinical information systems (CIS). Develop and reconcile clinical improvement and inquiry supports use cases. Recommend capacity and literacy benchmarks as part of optimized clinical training processes for Connect Care clinical improvement and inquiry training.

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to development of a learning healthcare culture and the ability to think systematically and critically while informing and developing strategies, frameworks and approaches. Knowledge & experience of in-system analytics and clinical decision support is required.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Candidates will be required to demonstrate awareness of privacy and security principles, and a working knowledge of project and change management processes and tools.


Preferred Qualifications:

Preference being given to candidates that have experience with Epic tools and data models.
