Your Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse looking to work to their full-scope of practice and whom has a passion for leadership and providing patient-centered care at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, located in the energetic and vibrant community of Fort McMurray. As our Assistant Head Nurse - Clinical Coordinator, you will be working in our Operating Room, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, and Day Surgery, and Pre-Anesthetic Clinic, within a multidisciplinary team, utilizing our values (AHS Cares) and Patient First Strategy in your practice to provide leading care to Albertans. The Incumbent will be responsible for assigning duties and evaluating staffing mix. The Clinical Coordinator is also responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, directing and evaluation of the provision of care and programs in the department under the direction of the Manager. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of Registered Perioperative Nursing course or equivalent Operating Room experience. Two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years in the operating room. Canadian Perioperative Nursing Certificate (CPNC). Charge Nurse experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. Sucessful completion of Leadership and Communication Courses through AHS, or external. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Membership with Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC). Experience in Recovery Room, Day Surgery, and Pre-Anesthetic Clinic.
