Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Medical Terminology Certificate required with testing prior to interview (60% pass). Typing speed of 40 wpm required with testing prior to interview. Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and MetaHealth systems required. Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to change. Team player with demonstrated ability to work within a team environment, modeling behaviors that support and contribute positively to team operations and working relationships. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be physically able to perform duties involving standing, sitting, bending, reaching and stretching and be able to lift/push/carry up to 20 lbs. Ability to perform all functions with a high degree of accuracy and maintains or exceeds established productivity standards.
Preferred Qualifications:Post-secondary education applicable to position – MOA/Unit Clerk/Admitting Clerk. Two years related experience in a hospital or medical office setting. Experience with computer applications in Health Records (e.g. VAX, Netcare, PowerTrac, PowerMonitor, eMon) preferred. Experience working with a terminal digit filing system. Knowledge of HIA (Health Information Act) and/or FOIP (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act) preferred.
