Required Qualifications:

Completion of a bachelor's degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor's degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities.

Additional Required Qualifications:

The candidate must be willing to work independently and show an affinity to work on a collaborative treatment team. Experience providing pro-active engagement of difficult to engage clients and effectively collaborating with a wide variety of care providers, agencies and stakeholders are required. Critical thinking skills, advanced knowledge of mental illnesses, and evidence based/evidence informed treatment (including risk assessment, crisis management, concurrent disorders treatment, and harm-reduction), working knowledge and experience of the identification and management of complex addiction, mental illness, and chronic disease are required. Experience working with homeless populations and knowledge of Edmonton inner-city resources are essential. Effective communication, independent management, presentation, consultation and MS Office computer skills are also required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working with concurrent disordered clients is preferred. Experience working in a correctional setting, recent experience working with a forensic population and strong awareness of community resources is an asset. 3 years of work experience in homelessness, mental health and/or addictions preferred.
