We are seeking and detail-oriented Transportation Representative – Dispatcher to support our laboratory operations. In the Transportation Representative position, you will transport medical specimens and equipment, lifting up to 50lbs while adhering to strict safety and regulatory standards. You will ensure proper handling, documentation, and timely delivery to maintain specimen integrity and support accurate testing. Your work plays a vital role in early disease detection and monitoring community health. You will collaborate with laboratory staff, healthcare providers, and clients, contributing to a strong team environment focused on excellence in patient care. This role also includes additional tasks as a Dispatcher, serving as the key point of contact for courier staff reporting unexpected absences. You will make real-time decisions to ensure coverage, escalate complex issues to leadership and maintain efficient operations. A strong understanding of specimen integrity and testing requirements is essential, as your decisions directly impact patient testing and care. You will regularly engage with internal stakeholders, balancing competing priorities with professionalism and strong customer service. This role also involves proactive problem-solving, route coordination, and troubleshooting in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Please note that the schedule for this position is rotating shifts Monday-Friday from 07:30-15:45 or 15:15-23:30 and weekends as required. Join APL and make a difference in your community
Description:
As a Transportation Service Representative, your role will be to deliver and pick up a range of products including, but not limited to, mail, specimens, lab supplies, mail, and blood products to and from Rapid Response Labs, Patient Care Centres, and client offices in a timely manner and according to an established routine, in accordance with APL standards, regulations and policies. Working independently, you must use appropriate storage methods to maintain integrity of cargo. You must adhere to all safe driving regulations and vehicle maintenance procedures. Maintenance of vehicles as well as coolers and transport boxes is also involved.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta Operator's Licence.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 1 year of experience as a commercial driver and or previous courier role is an asset. Additional education in logistics or business administration. Experience with dispatch or logistics software. Previous experience in logistics.
