Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree of Pathologists' Assistant or equivalent combination of education and experience recognized by the Canadian Association of Pathologists for Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistant (CCCPA) certification. Active or eligible for certification with the Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistants (CCCPA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

3 - 5 years of recent relevant working experience, however new graduates will be considered. Advanced knowledge of gross dissection techniques and guidelines, tissue fixation and preservation techniques. Intermediate knowledge of cancer staging and grading requirements and guidelines. Knowledge to prepare tissues for special procedures, ancillary testing and intraoperative assessments. Ability to deal effectively with complicated technical procedures and maintain accurate records and documentation. Provide high quality service ensuring quality of samples and documentation is maintained.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of lab safety and biohazardous material handling and use of safety equipment, WHIMIS and TDG. Ability to preceptor MLT students. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written. Demonstrated skills in prioritization, critical thinking, multitasking and problem solving. Knowledge with Connect Care and Dragon Medical One.
