Master's Degree of Pathologists' Assistant or equivalent combination of education and experience recognized by the Canadian Association of Pathologists for Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistant (CCCPA) certification. Active or eligible for certification with the Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistants (CCCPA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Intermediate knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology and medical terminology. Any Canadian equivalency to English 30 or 33 or CLBA score of Benchmark 8, completed within the last 6 months. Able to work with and exposure to chemicals and gloves. Able to work with deceased patients. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to explain information in a well thought out, logical and effective manner.
Preferred Qualifications:Completion of an accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program. ASCP-PA Certification. Related experience in Anatomic Pathology within the last 3 years. Basic LIS and Microsoft computer skills. Basic understanding of CPSA Accreditation requirements. Competence in grossing surgical specimens up to Level VI.
