The Airdrie Community Health Centre provides a wide range of health services to residents and families living in and around Airdrie, including 24 hour Urgent Care, Public Health, Home Care and Mental Health. The laboratory plays a key role in the interdisciplinary team within the health center and community. Reporting to the Urgent Care Lab Supervisor or Manager, and under the direction of the Urgent Care Medical Laboratory Technologist II, the Laboratory Technologist I will be responsible for providing exemplary patient care by applying the regional policies and procedures. In accordance with Health Information Act (HIA), Freedom of Information and Privacy (FOIP) and other privacy legislation in effect the incumbent shall comply at all times with APL / AHS’s Information Privacy and Information Security policies. This position primarily works night shifts with a rotation of 7 nights on, 7 nights off.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Proven ability to work within a computer-based environment using programs including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint and OneDrive. Experience in core laboratory theory including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, and transfusion medicine dispense. Experience in reading manual differentials. Current experience in Hematology and Chemistry within the last 2 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

2-year experience in an Urgent Centre Testing area, Rapid Response Lab or Rural Lab. Connect Care training including Beaker and WellSky TM non-testing Technologist.
