Your Opportunity:
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist in Clinical Microbiology (Virology) you will perform, interpret, and report a variety of routine and specialized serology and microbiological tests, following standard operating procedures. The Technologist I will work within a collaborative team setting and ensure quality competency, high quality testing operations, and accurate results. Additionally, the Laboratory Technologist I will follow established safety protocols and work within the established quality system to uphold required accreditation standards. Specific Accountabilities: Operates and performs testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting on technical equipment. Performs both PCR and serology testing and other specialized testing. Participates in the evaluation of new methodologies. Participates in training of new staff, students and residents. Participates in procedure reviews and accreditation processes. Maintains required competencies through participation in the competency assessment programs.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to be regularly scheduled to provide after-hours and On Call support. Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills. Demonstrated excellent problem solving, decision making, and trouble-shooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:One to two years of experience within the past five years in a Diagnostic or Public Health Laboratory. One to two years of experience operating chemistry/molecular instrumentation. One to two years of experience performing serological and molecular testing. Process Excellence certification. Knowledgeable with the Human Pathogen and Toxins Act (HPTA). Experience with the EPIC Beaker Information System.
