Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Equivalency is defined as completion of a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) and/or Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologist (CLXT) program in Canada; completion of a Medical Lab Technician/Technologist program outside of Canada; and/or MLT or CLXT students who have completed their phlebotomy training/rotation. Internal APL Employees who have completed a combination of formal training and/or on-the-job experience directly related to the representative duties and job responsibilities in the MLA I job posting. Applicants with a high school diploma may be considered. Upon hire, you will be required to complete on-the-job phlebotomy training provided by APL at no cost and formal training courses offered by SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) or NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). The costs associated with these formal training courses will be your responsibility. You will be required to complete these required training within the time frame established within the HSAA CA.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent (within the last year) experience in performing phlebotomy and ECGs. Recent experience with EPIC considered an asset. Previous Urinalysis experience.
