We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic, fast-paced, and highly team-focused acute care hospital laboratory. Our pre-analytical department is dedicated to delivering high-quality diagnostic lab services across multiple clinical care buildings, including Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Center, Main Acute Care Hospital, Special Services Building, North Tower-Grace Women’s Health, McCaig Tower, Emergency Department, and Ambulatory Clinics. You will interact with a diverse group of healthcare professionals, contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient care. The role requires adaptability and resilience, as you will be handling a variety of tasks in a fast-paced setting. Daily responsibilities will include performing venipuncture with preference to straight needles, focusing on accuracy and patient comfort, receiving and preparing specimens/samples for testing, utilizing electronic clinical information systems and devices, while ensuring quality control, operation, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Enjoy a static schedule that promotes a healthy work-life balance: Day shift with every other weekend 0530-1345. Please note this role has a physical component: requires extended periods of walking, standing, bending and lifting.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Inpatient phlebotomy and data entry experience within the last 6 months. Experience with Clinical Information systems (e.g., EPIC).
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in neonatal skin puncture. Courses or certificates in personal leadership development. Courses or training in process improvement or change management. National certification with CSMLS. Experience using Microsoft Office.
