Your Opportunity:
The Anatomic Pathology department at Foothills Medical Center (FMC) is looking for a temporary administrative assistant to help with administrative and clerical work in the lab. Duties include but not limited to receiving slide transport pouches and slides; tracking and assigning pathology cases; creating consult cases; retrieving pathology material (blocks and/or slides) from storage; filing paperwork and slides; calling in or submitting IT tickets as needed; timekeeping; and other related tasks. You will be working alongside one other administrative staff, medical lab assistants, pathology assistants, histology assistants, pathologists, and leadership staff. A high level of independence is required in this role.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Additional courses in, or completion of, medical office assistant program or relevant experience in an office setting. Ability to multi-task (answer phone calls, receive pathology material, send STAT cases out, etc.) is an important skill for this position. Customer-service skills and previous experience dealing with patients/members of the public is a very strong asset and required. This role is moderately physical and rotation through the lab is required. Ability to walk from FMC to the Arthur Child Cancer Center and back, while pushing a cart.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of Epic and specifically tracking in Epic is crucial for this role (will be trained if necessary). Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset for this role as it will help you determine how to handle consult cases. Previous experience with timekeeping (or minimum knowledge of Epic and completion of a timekeeping course.) Previous experience in Anatomic Pathology or similar department within healthcare.
